The documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” by Al Gore, former Vice-President of the United States, is being shown on Friday, December 4, at 3 pm at the amphitheatre of the headquarters of INTERAMERICAN (124 Syggrou Avenue), offering free admission to the public.

This is an initiative undertaken by the insurance firm within the framework of the INTERAMERICAN “Acts of Life” social and environmental responsibility programme, which aims at informing its employees and citizens and raising their awareness about the major issue of risks engendered by climate change.

“The prediction and proper assessment of risks, and especially the need for collective awareness and coordinated effort to halt climate change and its consequences, are of great importance to INTERAMERICAN, a pioneer in the insurance management of environmental risks through proposals to the Greek insurance market”, stressed Mr. G. Roundos, Director of Public Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility, adding that the company is the only insurance firm in the market that has undertaken specific commitments for the environment as part of the UNEP FI Environmental Declaration and the UN Global Compact.

Al Gore’s movie underlines the tremendously catastrophic consequences of climate change with the soaring of greenhouse gas levels and remains exceptionally timely, just a few days before the crucial Copenhagen global summit on climate change is to begin.
